Occupational Therapy can support people living with a wide range of conditions and challenges, including neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, or multiple sclerosis, musculoskeletal conditions like arthritis or chronic pain, cognitive or memory changes, mental health challenges, and age-related changes that impact safety, mobility, or independence.
At Allied 42, we focus on understanding the person behind the condition. We take the time to learn about your routines, goals, and what matters most to you, so we can provide practical support that helps you stay independent and continue doing the things you enjoy.
Your first Occupational Therapy session is all about getting to know you and understanding what’s important in your day-to-day life. Your OT will ask questions about your health, routines, home environment, and any challenges you’re experiencing, and may also observe how you manage certain tasks if needed. From there, we’ll start identifying goals together and talk through practical ways we can support your independence, safety, and confidence at home and in the community.
The length of occupational therapy treatment depends on the individual and their specific needs. Some individuals may require short-term therapy, while others may require ongoing therapy to manage their condition and maintain their level of function. Your therapist will work with you to determine the appropriate length of treatment for your needs.
People currently concerned with how they are managing their day to day. This will look different for everyone, it may be difficulty getting in and out of your bed, chair or car, feeling unsteady on your feet, forgetting people's names, to pay bills or appointments. You may need more help with showering, going to the toilet or preparing a meal. As an Occupational Therapist we are able to view all the activities you do in a day and consider how your body, brain and environment are working together or where best to provide support.
Safe to say, if you feel concerned, give us a call and ask how we can help you.
Allied 42 can utilise funding from a number of agencies, including NDIS, Support at Home (My Aged Care), Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA), and Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). We also support those who pay privately - you may be able to claim for our OT services through your private health insurance extras cover, depending on your policy.
It doesn't matter if you are ready, it matters if you start!
